A TRIOS® case story - Photos

TRIOS®

Dr. Simon Kold from Henring Implant Center has worked with the TRIOS®  scanner since June 2011, and has no doubts about his own preference.

A TRIOS® case story Part III.

3Shape – a professional team that demonstrates high commitment to its customers
3Shape and their professionalism have been an asset. They listen carefully to our issues and quickly provide solutions. They seem very committed in their aim to be the best in their market," says Simon Kold, and he adds "3Shape works hard to be the best in each area they work with. I like that."

TRIOS®
Brings significant advantages

Before choosing TRIOS®, Simon Kold thoroughly investigated the 3D scanning market.

The key factors that led to TRIOS® were:
Open system – TRIOS® is not locked to a specific provider. TRIOS® opens many doors that help clinics start working digitally.
Auto focus – It doesn’t matter which angle or distance the scanner is held while scanning.
No powder or spray needed. Live video scanning – It’s like shooting a video. The scan is built up on the screen as one works. Its fast, modern, and precise.

An investment that secures your future

"Look at it as an investment in the future," says Simon Kold. "The scanner will naturally represent a significant investment although one saves time and the cost of impression materials. But TRIOS® brings many things that develop the clinic. In the US, labs are starting to train technicians to be completely dedicated to CAD/CAM workflows. In a few years, both labs and clinics will be much more digital. It’s a new era one needs to be a part of!" concludes Simon Kold.   Herning Implant Center

TRIOS Case Story Part II

Does it make you

a better dentist?

Simon believes that his preparations have improved significantly since he started working with TRIOS®.
"It’s always been challenging to define an adequately precise margin line and this puts greater demands on preparation skills. Now I find it easier to assess the quality of my impression because I can see the preparation right away in 3D," Says Simon Kold. "It’s easy to use the 3Shape TRIOS®, but naturally, one needs to learn how to scan optimally. The first day we scanned 6 patients in a row with 3Shape representatives on-site giving instructions. After that, we were ready to work on our own. There have been a few start-up issues but that’s how it is with new techniques." A very satisfying and significant TRIOS® experience took place when Simon in November 2011 successfully completed an upper-jaw reconstruction using 12 new teeth. Both the scan and the whole workflow with the laboratory functioned smoothly and all 12 teeth slid in without making any adjustments!

Simon Kold also took a traditional impression during the process. He sent the physical impression to the lab and asked them to assess its precision in relation to the scan. Their answer was clear. The laboratory judged that the sources for errors had been minimized by up to 70%! This high ratio surprised Simon.

When making major reconstructions, it is an advantage that the laboratory can model and adjust virtually on-screen instead of physically having to work with a wax model.

A TRIOS® case story Part I.

"TRIOS® helps us develop ourselves as dentists"

Why take traditional impressions, when it is possible to scan in 3D in less than three minutes and then design virtually? Dentist Simon Kold from Herning Implant Center has worked with the
TRIOS scanner since June 2011, and has no doubts about his own preference.

Crowns with more precision

Dentists Simon Kold would not want to be without his TRIOS®system today. TRIOS® makes it possible to work digitally throughout the case. Many laboratory procedures can be carried out using CAD / CAM technologies including production of a digitally designed model. Another option with TRIOS® is to make model-free crowns in full zirconium and e.max. The fact that one can skip the physical model makes the whole workflow both faster and cheaper.
With model-free crowns you get an alternative to conventional crown treatment, which can accommodate a large group of patients which otherwise would have chosen a composite reparation to save money. "TRIOS® provides many advantages," says Simon Kold. "It avoids uncertainties and potential errors that can come with traditional impression taking and casting in plaster. Precision becomes significantly higher." Simon Kold also speaks of the great satisfaction in working with the market’s latest technology. It develops not only the clinic’s staff, but also takes the clinic in new directions.

Day 2 at CAD 2012 Conference

Day 2 has was GREAT!
Once again I was able to capture a lot of attention with the 3Shape TRIOS. The number one question today was 'what is the difference is between the 3Shape TRIOS and other IOS's on the market':

The Difference:

  • TRIOS scan wand weighs a mere 0.7 kg
  • TRIOS unit weighs 39 kg and easily transported in between rooms
  • TRIOS uses confocal imaging and captures up to 3000 images per second (yes 3000 per second) with no spray!
  • TRIOS also has a pre heat function for your scan wand to control fogging and moisture while capturing data
  • TRIOS scan cart supports wifi and the only connection you will need to make is to a power outlet
  • TRIOS supports bluetooth connection for a wireless mouse and keyboard if touch screen isn't your thing
  • Import pre-op photos right into your Rx
  • You can 'lock in' your scan data over the prepped area
  • You can capture your scan with the overhead light ON! (you can see what you're doing)
  • TRIOS scan data is sent direct to the lab of your choice! Open Architecture.
  • TRIOS has no click/case fees
There is a difference... FASTER. EASIER. BETTER- its technology designed the way you work!

TRIOS® Training & the thing's that I have learned

TRIOS® Training with Lucas Walter from 3Shape A/S

Last week we had the privilege to have Lucas Walter here from 3Shape A/S for formal training on the 3Shape TRIOS®. As a team of dental professionals (CDA'S, RDT's, CDT's, and a DDS) Kastle Mills once again upped the ante! We didn't want to scan prepped models or our own mouths; we wanted real data, a real case done so we can time workflow and see if speed and accuracy is actually obtained as easily as the brochure states. So prepped the 36 for a full coverage e.Max Press crown; Check it out:

What I've learned....

The 3Shape TRIOS® is like no other IOS on the market. Its sleek design, ease of use, and touch screen will make the TRIOS® a statement piece in any office. It is light weight and easily maneuvrable in between operatories; The 'cart' is not bulky in any way and only weighs 39Kg. The scan wand is ergonomically designed and the first that I have used that has the weight of the wand evenly distributed for comfort and control. The scan wand only weighs .7kg! Every detail of the 3Shape TRIOS® has been carefully thoughtout and planned with easy of use and a streamlined workflow in mind. No fuss and no hassle is what the TRIOS® is about, it is literally a plug and go system.

Check back tomorrow for more!

Back in Action!

Hello everyone,

LOTS of exciting news to catch my followers up on:

  1. 2nd Annual CAD/CAM Meeting!
  2. I got Married on Saturday September 1st! (whooohooo)
  3. Our formal training on 3Shape TRIOS by my favorite Mr. Lucas Walter!!
Now to get you all up to speed:

Our 2nd Annual CAD/CAM Meeting

took place on August 23rd and 24th in Kelowna. It couldn't have been a more perfect setting! It was held at the Harvest Golf Club and it was AWESOME!

This year we brought focus to solutions: solutions for your dentist, solutions for your lab, and solutions for your team. It all comes down to technology integration, workflow optimization, and communication. We were very fortunate to have Chris Cicero join us from Roland, he have a awesome presentation on inhouse milling, return of investment, and the benefits associated with bringing work back to the lab. Mr. Michael Weeks also presented on workflow, integration, and the 'digital revolution' that we are now experiencing in our industry.
Kastle Mills featured the 3Shape Trios, 3Shape D700, with Roland DWX 50 5 Axis Mill, for complete optimized workflow from intraoral scan, sending the complete case to the 'lab' (the 3Shape D700 TRIOS Inbox), designing the restoration, export to milling with the Roland DWX 50, to insertion. It was streamlined, accurate, and EASY!

(more info to come and photos ... stay tuned)
